What is the EcoCAR challenge?
EcoCAR: The NeXt Challenge is a collegiate automotive engineering competition that challenges 17 North American universities to reduce the environmental impact of vehicles by minimizing the vehicle’s energy consumption, and greenhouse gas emissions while maintaining its utility, safety and performance. EcoCAR is a three year competition that kicked off on May 21, 2008 in Washington, DC. The competition is currently planned to conclude in June 2011.

Why join the EcoCAR team?
UOIT is one of three Canadian universities chosen to participate in the contest from schools across North America. UOIT is using Full-Function Electric Vehicle architecture for the EcoCAR challenge. EcoCAR competition allows students to acquire real world work experience which is extremely important in today’s economy.
