UOIT EcoCAR on Rogers TV

Our team leader, who’s an active member of Durham Electric Vehicle Association (DEVA) was interviewed, as other DEVA members, by Rogers TV, and presented his electric bicycle, powered by A123 batteries, and a pick-up truck and an electric bus our team use for experimentation.

Activity description/details: We provided students the opportunity to learn about the EcoCAR team and project by holding our first recruiting event of the school year. Since we have yet to acquire our EcoCAR vehicle, we demonstrated electric vehicle technologies using our electric busses. Students were encouraged to ask questions about both the EcoCAR project and zero emissions vehicle technologies.

Durham student getting charge out of green project

Activity name: Durham student getting charge out of green project

Activity description/details: The engineering student is also UOIT's team leader for the EcoCAR challenge, a three-year competition involving 17 schools from the U.S. and Canada looking to build the most efficient vehicle. UOIT is one of only three Canadian universities involved, said Mr. Hinse.
